When I feel great passion about something, the words flow out of me in seconds. I wrote this on my phone right after hearing the news, and it wasn't edited for Social Media. So many of our residents became attached to this little guy and spoke about him daily. I quickly typed the summary of Petey on my phone and posted it as my whole body was covered in goosebumps. I won't be producing a picture book about Petey because the ending is not the way my books are written. Petey ... keep travelling and keep following your dreams.

Petey the Pig
Petey wanted to be free. He told all his friends that he needed to explore the world.
He didn’t pack a suitcase. He knew he would find all he needed on his tour.
Petey thought he would go for a little vacation, but once Petey the pig enjoyed several adventures, he knew he wasn’t going back home.
Petey didn’t care that all the humans near and far were making him famous with their social media posts.
Petey was on a mission. He needed to see more than most farm animals ever would.
Petey ran into a friend one day who was so quiet and still, but he really liked his mysterious friend. One Petey follower videotaped the meeting. The humans laughed, but Petey didn’t think it was funny and continued on his journey.
Petey lived the life he wanted, and he also encountered his worst enemy on his journey. Bright lights and loud sounds came towards him on his last day.
He didn’t have the strength to fight the big loud machines anymore. Petey’s new journey was on the highway to heaven. Town folks celebrate his strength and willpower. They will miss seeing him, but they learned from Petey.
They will tell their grandchildren about Petey and his adventures. They loved Petey.

AUTHOR - GOAAALLLIE, Singing Molly, Fairy Ride, Squirrel Hotel, Old Adages for the Young at Heart series
Vicki Bruce inspires children to enjoy reading by creating entertaining picture books. Early literacy is the key to happy children, parents, and teachers.
Seven years ago Vicki asked Faye Wright if she would illustrate an 'Old Adage' book. 'Old Adages for the Young at Heart' series are picture books for adults. The series is designed for adults who may have dementia or vision loss.
"I am not sure if there are other picture books for adults, but over the years, as a librarian, I was asked for books for readers with Alzheimer's or dementia, I would head to the children's section and try to find large print books adults might like. This was not an easy task" - Vicki
Over 450 Dragonflies were submitted to Fairy Ride from Brock Townshup Schools, Libraries, and Beyond.
Vicki donates a percentage of 'Fairy Ride' proceeds to this important program organized by two talented teachers:
Stephanie Dunford & Serena Toomey.
